What Customers Say About Netgear WPN824NA Wireless Mimo Router:

Once in while you'll need to unplug and plug again to reset. This router is very simple to setup. Bought it for my parents and they love it. Security is standard and so far so good. Overall a solid and easy product to use.

If I hooked up to it directly(in my bedroom on a 5-foot ethernet cable -- not conducive to working), then my VPN connection didn't get dropped. I will never buy a NetGear anything again. Unfortunately, I bought the Netgear WPN824v3, and I've had nothing but VPN connectivity problems with it.From the moment I was finally able to manually set it up (had to do that manually, since they do not make it clear that the wizard is only for 32-bit Vista, not 64-bit), my work VPN connection started getting dropped every 5 to 10 minutes. I used a DSL wireless router/modem combo for two years with zero problems to log into my employer's system via a VPN connection. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. I will -- for another type of modem.

Finally, they told me that if I still had VPN connectivity problems, I should just take the router back and exchange it.

But when I used it for its intended use as a wireless device, endless drops/reconnects, right in the middle of work.I talked to NetGear's tech support, and they had me change the name of my connection, and then had me back up my wireless settings and download the latest version of the firmware (which was already installed on the system).

11, 2010: I took the NetGear good-luck-if-you-want-to-use-VPN router back to BestBuy and purchased a Belkin Wireless G+ Router (model F5D9231-4).

Then I switched to cable earlier this week and had to buy a separate wireless router.

I will probably buy a Linksys, since they appear to be pretty reliable based on the reviews here on Amazon.I rate this product as one star because what good is a wireless router if I have to hook directly to it in order to work without endless drops/reconnects.Update on Jan.

I told them that the exact version they were having me download and install was the same one that the NetGear control panel already showed as installed -- but they still had me reinstall it, and then reboot my cable modem and the NetGear router, and revert to my saved wireless settings. They also had me change a couple of other settings (including reducing the MPU size), but to no avail.

I also moved all electronic devices away from it that might interfere, as suggested by support.

Only found one place locally that sells it (Fry's), but Amazon.com also sells it.

Not a single dropped connection on VPN, and it couldn't have been any easier to set up.

It has been working great I haven't been dropped from the internet yet or had a slow connection. I previously had a Linksys WRT54GS, one word to describe it HORRIBLE, i just couldnt take it anymore so after some consideration I purchased this a few weeks ago recertified and have not a had a problem so far. And when i get on the xbox im already signed in to xbox live unlike the linksys which took me about 4 or 5 tries before i was on if i could even get on. It didnt come w/an install cd which I didnt need anyways b/c it install itself and all I did was plug everything in. As for the wireless aspect I can't vouch for since all my stuff is wired since i still refuse to buy a wireless adapter for my xbox. LOve It I would definetly buy another if i needed it or any other netgear product. Unlike the linksys which i probably will never buy another one of their products.

It's easy to set up and easy to install. I have been using my wireless router for about a month now and it's been just fine. I have no comments to offer about customer support since I haven't needed to contact them. Superficially, it's efficient on space and has a slim, discrete design. It also does the job just fine though my demands are minimal: I just need to connect several computers and laptops to it to access my internet connection. So, I'm happy with the router. No complaints so far.

I also have wireless speakers hooked up in my house and it doesn't interfere with them either. This works great. I have also had the router in an apartment for a few months and ran into zero problems there. I have encountered no interference whatsoever. I have my PS3, Wii, Laptop, and Iphone all connected to this router and It works flawlessly. I have the router in one corner of my house and I can take my laptop to the other corner with a full signal. 100% satisfied.
